Metric glossary
Net return — total percentage gain or loss over the backtest period, after fees and slippage. Sharpe ratio — return per unit of volatility; higher is better, but a high Sharpe on a tiny sample is not meaningful on its own. Max drawdown — the largest peak-to-trough decline in equity during the run. Win rate — percentage of closed trades that were profitable; a low win rate is not automatically bad if average winners are large relative to average losers. Profit factor — gross profit divided by gross loss; above 1.0 means the strategy made more than it lost, before considering how much capital was at risk to get there. Expectancy — the average amount you'd expect to win or lose per trade, combining win rate and average win/loss size into one number.
Indicator library
55 indicators are available in the Strategy Builder, spanning trend, momentum, volatility, volume, and — Elite tier only — an Institutional/Smart Money category (VWAP Bands, CVD, RVOL, Anchored VWAP). Pro and Elite both get unlimited use of the non-institutional indicators. Custom indicators (arithmetic combinations of existing series) are available on Pro and Elite, up to 20 per account.
Keyboard shortcuts
Ctrl/Cmd + K opens the command palette from anywhere in the app; Escape closes it. In the AI assistant composer, Enter sends a message; Shift + Enter inserts a new line without sending. Beyond these, the chart's own drawing and navigation shortcuts follow TradingView's standard Advanced Charts keymap.
